A Weekend in San Francisco

My friends from college decided to plan a trip to San Francisco for Labor Day weekend! I was very excited for this weekend getaway because I don’t get to travel with multiple friends very often. Believe it or not, convincing a group of people to join you on your next adventure is a challenge.

Here’s a quick DO’s and DON’Ts guide:

Golden Gate Bridge

DO: Walk through the Golden Gate bridge! It’s only 20 minute hike and be sure to wear appropriate shoe wear! | DON’T: There are two lookout point at the Golden Gate Bridge. Don’t go to the right side, go to the left instead.

World Famous Cable Car

You can’t visit San Francisco and not ride the cable car! DO: Wait in line, it goes by fast. | DON’T seat inside the riding car. Wait for the next cable car to come to ride in the outside section!

Fisherman’s Wharf – Pier 39

San Francisco’s main tourist destination!

DO: At dinner or lunch, be sure to order San Francisco’s famous clam chowder! | DON’T forget to bring a jacket! San Francisco can get very chilly at night, specially near the pier.

Alcatraz Prison

DO: No tickets? No problem. Go to the ticket sales center at 4AM in Fisherman’s Wharf and wait in line for a couple of hours until you get your tickets. | DON’T get your hopes up! Tickets might sold out.

Meet William Baker, an Alcatraz’s former inmate #1259! Cool, huh? PS: Don’t worry he’s not a serial killer, he stole a car. haha

DO: Buy his book “Alcatraz #1259”. It’s very interesting! | DON’T forget to ask him to sign your book!

DO: Be sure to check the ferry schedule to get you back to the city! They run every 30-minutes. | DON’T forget to grab the audio tour! I am not a fan of audio tours, but this one was very interesting.

This has to be the best prison view of all times…

A day tour to Napa Valley

DO: Bring your ID! Some vineyards won’t let you drink without it.| DON’T get drunk in the first vineyard, there will be plenty of time for a fun all-day drinking session. Cheers!

Finally, Travel with a group of good friends!

DO as much as you can. DON’T worry, you can always come back!

Until next trip,
