10 Travel Apps To Make Your Life Easier

Countless travel websites, booking sites, travel guides... Where do I even begin?

Check out these 10 travel apps that will make your life way easier when planning your next trip:

Expedia. Book your ideal travel itinerary with the Expedia app. Find flights and hotels easily, reserve a rental car with no cancellation fee, get tickets for tours, shows, museums as well as reserve airport shuttles and ground transportation.

Once everything is booked, set up travel alerts and access trip details on-the-go. You can even receive alerts for flight delays, hotel check-out times and much more. Also available for Apple Watch and supports Apple's Passbook feature.

Personally, I love to book my plane tickets and hotels using Expedia because this app offers discounted rates for those that also need to book accommodations. You can save up to 40% with mobile-exclusive hotel deals.

Kayak. This app also searches hundreds of travel sites and lets you book flights, hotel accommodations and reserve a rental car. It offers features similar to Expedia. Such as, manage trips, receive flight status alerts, price alerts etc. Also offered for Apple Watch.

Tripadvisor. The world's most popular travel app. Access millions of travelers reviews, remember your best travel moments, compare hotel prices and find the best deals to book hotels, flights, restaurants and attractions. Need we say more? Also offered for Apple Watch.

Viator. A Tripadvisor company. The best app for tours & activities! It offers the world's coolest insider tours and activities in more than 1,500 destinations. Select a location, search and book the tour that best suits you. Before booking, check out the tour's reviews and photos from users!

GetYourGuide. Another great app for booking tours and activities. Find amazing things to do nearby and book activities with only few taps! Verify your bookings easily using mobile vouchers. If you're not ready to book, save the activities you liked to your wishlist.

Tripit. The best app to organize your travel plans in one place! Simply forward your travel confirmation emails to plans@tripit.com and the app automatically creates a detailed daily itinerary for every trip. Easily access your travel itinerary, even offline.

Yelp. Your local guide to finding restaurants, bars and shops near you. Access the information you need at your fingertips. Such as, addresses, phone numbers, hours of operations and much more. Read thousands of reviews from locals and tourists.

OpenTable The best site for online table reservations. Simply choose the restaurant you want to dine in, pick a date & time, select the number of guests in your party and voila!

Concur. Keep track of your travel expenses with Concur! Say goodbye to paper receipts. This app allows you to capture receipts on the go, import data from credit cards, create expense reports within minutes and much more.

Uber. Not a travel app specifically, but great for transportation purposes when traveling.

Safe travels!

The art of saying "Yes!" can take you far away. Many people pass on opportunities for many reasons, one of them being fear. Through my life I've encounter many people that forget to live the present for something that might not even happen in the future. If you are constantly waiting for the right time to finally do something, like fulfill your life dream, you are going to spend most of your life waiting.

My name is Mariella and I created this blog as a source of inspiration for others to believe they can live the life they always pictured. The secret? Believe you can and take action. The world awaits!

  1. Great list! My favorite is the Priority Pass app that tells me the locations of airport lounges all over the world. And XE for currency conversion because some are just too confusing to do in your head!

  2. I love Get Your Guide! They’re so useful, and feature some great tours and at good prices too. I’ve never used Kayak to be honest, but after your post, I’ll definitely consider them. I always have Uber on my phone; you never know where you can use it!

  3. I’ve been hearing a lot about TripIt lately. I might need to look into downloading it next time I travel. And Uber is definitely helpful!

Hi Marcie – If you love to plan itineraries you’ll LOVE the app TripIt. Let me know your thoughts when you use it!

  4. I love using Uber/Lyft when I travel, so even though it’s not technically a “travel app,” I’m super excited to see it on here. I was traveling to San Francisco last year and I found an amazingly FREE parking spot, which is almost unheard of. I decided to leave my car there and walk around, then take a Lyft back to my car. Let me tell ya…it totally beat driving around and stressing to find a parking spot!

  5. I use some of these apps but I haven’t heard of some of the others before. My favourite here is Tripadvisor. I’ve also just used Expedia to book flights and they’ve been sending me accommodation discounts. However I normally prefer booking accommodation on Booking.com because you can cancel most places until a few days before check-in , without penalties. I’m not sure if Expedia does that.

I wish there was a “download all” button at the end of this! This list is perfect. I use TripAdvisor for everything.
