The process can be very overwhelming for first timers, but this step-by-step guide has everything you need to know. Step 1: Do your research First off, head over to your airline’s “Pet Policy” section of their website and learn the Terms and Conditions regarding pet travel. From my personal experience, I would recommend flying  American Airlines.  American Airlines is the best option for international pet travel. First off, you are allowed to take your dog in cabin (medium and small dog-size only.)   Step 2: Call your airline to make a reservation for your pet     Once you book your flight, make sure you give them a call to reserve a spot for your pet. Many airlines have a maximum of 7 pets per cabin/flight policy.      Step 3: Make an appointment with your vet   Let your vet know that you are traveling outside of the United States and that you need a official health certificate for the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) to review and approve. Also, make sure all vaccines …

Phrases I heard from locals in Havana, Cuba

In politics there’s always going to be two sides of the story, that’s something we all know. During my visit to Havana, I made sure to write down every phrase I heard from locals regarding the revolution and the current government. (DISCLAIMER: To all my Cuban-Americans friends, this is not a political post and has nothing to do with my personal opinion regarding the revolution and its history. This post just narrates what I heard from locals and translated it to the English language) The quotes below might shock you… Here’s what I heard: “Our government lets us cubans live in peace every day knowing that next month my daughter is going to have food in her stomach no matter how much I work or I don’t work that month” – Taxi driver in Varadero. “Cuba has a 98% literacy! The highest in the world. Everyone has a free education, but when it’s time to go to college and pick up a career it’s when everything gets complicated. There are a limited spots for each …

Hello Madrid, I’m Back (Again)!

A year ago, three of my friends decided to get their master’s degree in Madrid. Since then, their social media posts are nothing but fun. The “I should visit.” phrase was always on my mind. And I wasn’t alone. Suddenly, all my friends decided to book their plane tickets.           My friends are having the time of their lives, and it brings me so much joy to see them having fun in Europe every day. Every. Single. Day they have something planned that is sure to become an unforgettable moment.           Last month, I was randomly looking at plane tickets to see if I could possibly (maybe) go visit them for a few days. Luckily for me, I found a ticket so cheap that I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. At first I was like “Wait, where’s the trick? There has to be something wrong here?” But no, it was pure luck. Without hesitation, I booked it. And just like that …

Taking A Moment To Think About Life

Earlier today my friend Juan Camilo and I had the chance to reflect on the reason behind our crazy and adventurous lifestyles. Our lifestyles are very similar, there’s no denying it. We both travel the world, seek adventure and learning is our passion and ultimate goal. But why are we this way? Why not just settle in one place, raise a family and be just like other people in today’s society? Here’s why. Looking back, I can say with complete confidence that the moment one of our closest friend past away changed my life forever. Without notice, she was gone in one blink. As traumatic and sad this tragic event affected our lives, I’ve come to realize that this is what changed my perspective towards living everyday like it’s the last one. One day my friend was alive, and the next one she was gone. This eye-opening experience taught me (the hard way) that no one has their life guaranteed. Yes, we all want to grow old and live a long life. Maybe that’s what …

Sometimes the best trips are the ones that you just go with the flow with zero plans on where you are going to sleep, eat or be. The goal is to get there and figure it out as the day passes. Sounds relaxing, right? Well it is… Usually I like to plan my travels to get an idea of what my trip is going to look like, but this wasn’t the case for Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. My friend Camila and I just decided to go and see what happens… So we did and everything turned out amazing! Costa Rica is a destination to go without a plan. There are so many adventures out there that actually planning your trip might spoil the entire trip. When in Costa Rica, take risks! What to See & Do?
