Pisac & Sacred Valley: Photo Diary

The first stop is Pisac ruins overlooking the valley. It takes approx. 1 hour to explore this magnificent site. The views are unbelievable! It's a great place to meditate.

Visiting Pisac artisan market is a must! Specially if you want to buy souvenirs in this trip. Here you can find the same items but at a very reduced price in comparison to other markets around Peru. Besides, they offer a great variety of artisan artifacts.

Bargain for some Andean goodies at the traditional artisan market of Pisac.

By all means, avoid buying anything in Machu Picchu town. Everything is 3X more expensive!

The Sacred Valley of the Incas is the second most visited attraction in Cusco after Machu Picchu!

The next stop is Ollantaytambo town. The main attraction here is the archeological site which hang high on the valley walls overlooking the town. Ollantaytambo is the gateway to Machu Picchu town (Aguas Calientes).

Head over to the train station to board the train towards Machu Picchu. It takes approx. 1 hour and a half to arrive. The train ride is very pleasant! The seats are very comfortable and the panoramic views of the highlights are majestic. Everywhere you look, there’s a beautiful backdrop worth taking pictures of. (I took hundreds, ha!)

Once you arrive to Machu Picchu town, I suggest you to go directly to your hotel. Check-in to your room, take a long hot shower and go to bed. Visiting the ruins of Machu Picchu is no picnic! You’ll need to be well rested to get through the day of intense hiking through mountains.

Safe travels,

You have taken beautiful phots of Pisac Saced Valley. Also purchasing souveniers from here as it is more cheaper than Peru, is a informative tip and I would love to buy some of them here only. I loved the peace and stillness of this place, and you are absolutely correct that it looks quite meditative. It looks a hectic day with lots of hiking but with beautiful surroundings.

  2. Beautiful pictures of the Sacred Valley! I know that Machu Picchu gets a lot of attention (and for good reason), but it’s also great to see some of the other beautiful sites in Peru. And thanks for the heads-up on the prices. I figured that anything purchased in Machu Picchu town would be expensively marked up, but I had no idea that it was 3x the amount!

That valley looks so beautiful above. I am not a hiker but I would definitely brave this to be able to enjoy that view. It is quite marvelous and I am in awe just looking at your photos!

  4. Pisac & Sacred Valley looks amazing! To be honest Ive mostly heard about Machu Picchu and looks like Peru has so much more to offer that that! I cant wait to go there and explore this beautiful country! Love your photos! So beautiful !

  5. I love ruins and hiks and Pisac & Sacred Valley is definitely the type of adventure and place that I would love to go and explore too. I just love the view and that goat is just so very cute, I want to just cuddle as well. Thanks for the tips too
