12 Things I learned in 2016

The saying “time flies when you are having fun” lives up to its name.  Where did 2016 go? Here’s a quick recap: I visited seven countries I’ve never been to, I broke my foot, I experiences what is to travel solo, got my Digital Marketing master’s degree, I mastered the art of booking flights and hotel rooms for very cheap, gained ten pounds, I lost ten pounds, got a promotion at work (Yay!), learned how to effectively pack the essentials to fit in a carry-on and, most importantly, got to learn a lot about several countries around the world. What’s not to love? 2016 was a great year indeed. Every year I write a sentence which briefly describes what I learned during that month. To be honest, this post is mostly for me. Every “12 Things I Learned” blog posts are very special for me because each sentence reminds me of the event (or happening) that impacted my life in some way or another. Here’s 12 things I learned throughout the year 2016: January | …

Yeah, I Broke My Foot in Vienna

You know when you are so happy that all you want to do is get up and dance? That’s how I felt my first day in Vienna. My crazy “organizing every detail of the trip” self hired a private car to take me from the airport to the hotel located in downtown Vienna. Called Austria Trend Hotel Rathauspark. When I first walked in all I could think was, “well this is not the Radisson Blu in Berlin, but it’s perfect!” Left my belongings and continued my journey. Walked a couple of blocks and there it was. Vienna, as seen in the movies! What a beautiful city. The trees leaves were yellow, white and pink. Gorgeous, isn’t it? I could smell the Spring as the wind blew into my face. I love to walk with no sense of direction. You know like getting lost… But not really because it’s the year 2016 and we have phones with GPS. Walked for hours and hours and took marvelous pictures of the city’s architecture and it’s beautiful (and multiple) parks. …

12 Things I Learned in 2015

Think about those 10 minutes before the New Year rings the night of New Year’s Eve… Everyone is getting ready for the countdown, the glasses of champagne are being filled, the phone signal is always jammed and everyone is just very excited to welcome the New Year. Everyone at the party starts to discuss their own new year’s resolutions, their new goals and sacrifices. If you are like me, you’re probably going to stick to them, but we all know the majority of people are just talking bullshit haha Every year I have THAT “This is going to be my year!” feeling… but last year’s New Year’s Eve was different. Instead, I had the “This year is going to be OK!” feeling. If you are reading this, you are probably going to say “%&*$* is she talking about?” Yes, I traveled the world and it was amazing. But, I forget to make a life when I wasn’t traveling. You see, when I wasn’t traveling I was working my full-time job while pursing my masters degree …

10 Post-College Life: Expectation Vs. Reality

Ok so when I was in college I always imagined how my “grown-up life” would be. I wanted to finish college as soon as possible so I could start my independent life. I always said: “Once I graduate I am going to become more responsible, buy my own stuff, keep track of everything etc.…” But, that’s not going to happen. Here are the 10 things that won’t change just because you graduated college: Expectation: I am going to cook a healthy meal every day after work.| Reality: I cook spaghetti for dinner every day. I can’t even remember when was the last time I went to Publix. Expectation: I am going to go to Publix every week. My fridge will be filled with a great variety of food. | Reality: The only thing I have in my fridge is wine and diet coke. And, maybe a slice of cheese that is most likely expired. Expectation: I am going to hang out with my college friends all the time after work. | Reality: Me: Hey, what …
