Phuket Travel Diary

Phuket, aka Southeast Asia main tourist destination! It combines wonderful beaches, jungles, amazing wildlife, rich culture, delicious food, multiple five stars resorts to choose from and much more. Phuket has something to suit any type of vacationer! If you want to stay inside the resort or go on an adventure and explore the wildlife, Phuket is the place you are looking for. 1. Phuket’s FantaSea Phuket’s ultimate cultural theme park. Yes, you heard right: theme park. Let me put it this way, this is the first thing any concierge will recommend to do on your first night. This place has multiple shows, stores, Thai cuisine restaurants, elephants rides, etc. The main show, called Fantasy of a Kingdom, bring the story of Kamala’s legend to life. The legend consists on a curse placed by the guardians spirits to the Prince and his beloved elephant companion turning them into stone until the land could learn the true meaning of harmony and peace. Interesting right? After the show, we were wondering around the park and found a place …

Hotel Review: JW Marriot Resort & Spa in Phuket

Phuket’s JW Marriot is one of the most beautiful resorts I’ve ever stayed at. This five-star resort offers all the amenities you can expect from a high-end hotel without losing Thailand’s main essence. This oceanfront resort has it’s own private beach, multiple pools, a luxury spa, various onsite restaurants to choose from and much more. The staff is very friendly and attentive to your service. You know? the ones that actually learn your last name even though you are only staying there for a couple of nights. The concierge have a lot of experience and they show you multiple activities & tours. Also, they are quick at problem solving ensuring you have a great vacation. Truly a memorable stay! Cons? It is located in Mai Khao Beach, approximately 25 minute drive from Phuket’s main happenings.

A day spent feeding, bathing and playing with elephants!

After spending the day feeding, bathing and playing with elephants I realized one thing that I already knew but never actually thought about it before. Traveling the world has opened my eyes in many ways and I feel like these past two years my perspective about the world has changed drastically. This experience made me realize I need to keep traveling the world, go as many places as I can and take advantage of every opportunity that comes across me. I’ve always being an animal lover, but growing up as a kid  I never thought I was ever going to actually bath with an elephant. I remember how happy I was every time I visited the Bronx’s Zoo in New York, always smiling. For many children around the world it is very common to do this, of course! My nine-year old self never imagined this would ever happen to her a decade and a half later. Not being allowed to feed them or touch them at the zoo never bothered me because I was happy …

Airline Review: Bangkok Airways

Dear Bangkok Airways, My name is Mariella Molestina and I am writing to you to tell you about my terrible experience while traveling with you. As I was waiting to board my plane from Phuket to Bangkok, I heard an announcement saying that my plane was delayed for approximately two hours. My final destination was Siem Reap, therefore I could loose my connection. As a frequent flyer, I’ve learned that layovers should be scheduled with at least three hours in between flights just in case something like this happens. Therefore, I wasn’t worried.… yet. I landed in Bangkok at the time my connecting flight was boarding. “I got this!”, I thought. My plan was to get off the plane and RUN as fast as possible to my gate.  I planned to stay in Siem Reap for only two days, therefore re-booking my flight was not an option. I had to make it to my next flight! As I deboarded the plane, which took twenty minutes, I asked the flight attendant to please call my gate …

Bangkok’s Top Eight Attractions

Hello, Southeast Asia! I’ve been wanting to take this trip for almost two years now but it never worked out. Well after two years of planning and dreaming, I finally did it! As soon as you step out of the airplane you can tell this city is going to be an interesting adventure. Traveling for 24hrs was not easy… I expected to be very tired after traveling for so long, but truth is the excitement got me and as soon as we checked-in to the hotel we decided to go out and explore. Here are Bangkok’s must-do activities: 1) “Would you like to ride the Tuk-Tuk?” As soon as we arrived, we tried to go to the Grand Palace but it was closed already. While wondering around Bangkok’s chaotic center, we decided to ride a Tuk-Tuk to the hotel. What’s a Tuk-Tuk?  Tuk-Tuks are Thailand’s primary method of public transportation. A motorcyclist with a passenger cabin  that can take you from point A to point B in half the time. Tip # 1: Do not believe …
